Valve amplifiers have a very loyal following, because they have wonderful audio qualities and a smooth sound that appeals to many people.  Many valve amplifiers are works of art, beautiful to look at, and you can feel the heat and see them glowing, but generally they are not very powerful, and will require a very efficient speaker to produce realistic levels of audio output without beginning to clip softly. Soft clipping is what lead guitar players love about valve electric guitar amplifiers, but you do not want that to happen when listening to high quality music. So when you only have 5, 10 or 15 watt valve amplifier to play around with, a very efficient speaker becomes a must.

There are many ways to achieve high efficiency in speakers, such as with horn loading, using short voice coil full range drivers, using large PA type drivers or just being satisfied with a smaller speaker in a smaller room, but most methods have limitations in bass, size, smoothness, expense or practicality.  However, this range of valve speciality (or any high quality low powered amplifier) speakers have no limitations: they have very good realistic low bass extension, very good clean and airy treble, beautiful mid-range voicing, a normal, practical size and shape to please the lady of the house, a reasonable cost, good power handling for other uses, and above all, high efficiency, so that you can achieve an emotionally satisfying level of impact and sound staging with even a five watt valve amplifier, right from the low bass in the mid twenties to 30,000 Hertz plus.
