Overview

The Classic series recreates some of the very capable speaker designs that gave listeners so much pleasure over the last decade or three. Styles and designs such as the popular range of sealed box bookshelf and larger speakers by AR (Acoustic Research) and others; and the transmission line speakers (with their incredible low bass) by KEF and others. So if you a desire to "bring back" some of the great shapes and wonderful capabilities of these classic designs at a price you can afford, then have a look at the models below. Of course, all are available as a complete kit of drivers, crossovers, etc., if you can build your own boxes.

Classic 1593sb

Price: $840/pr (or $600 kit less cabinet)

Comments: huge power and big sound, yet with all the clarity of a highly refined crossover; a bigger sealed box version of the Summoner 1283 but with the same wonderfully controlled 15 inch woofer as used in our Mammoth 1535ib subwoofer

Classic 1253sb

Comments: it is unusual to combine a 10 inch woofer and tweeter in a 2-way arrangement, but it has been done very successfully before by AR and others, and gives an amazingly big sound from a smaller cabinet: high order crossover for tweeter

Classic 822sb

Comments: the large rubber roll suspension ring on this woofer indicates it really means business; incredible power and tight bass; same as Sentinel 832 but in sealed box, and can be used as a rear speakers with the Sentinel, or all round in a high impact satelite system

Classic 1093tl

Drivers: 250mm high power subwoofer with extra long throw and double magnet; high end 165mm upper bass/midrange; Danish 25mm high quality ring radiator tweeter.
Comments: equalss the low end performance of even the best subwoofers (like our Mammoth 1535ib), but is less efficient; very realistic sound; no need for an active subwoofer in a home theatre system using this classic model; true audiophile speaker based on classic design but using high quality, high power modern drivers and crossover components

Comments: same as the Summoner 843 in driver arrangement and slightly deeper cabinet, but transmission line bass loading gives deeper bass; all the advantages of this design in a normal small footprint style floorstanding cabinet
